Holy Trinity Wilderness Cathedral

Who: George
Where: Holy Trinity Wilderness Cathedral

Why: he Greater Holy Trinity Wilderness Cathedral which includes the Zwickey Creek (proposed) Vulture Sanctuary, The Great Spirit Wilderness, The Marjorie and Kenneth Russell Research Natural Area and Alligator Preserves is perhaps the finest example of intact old growth native gene pools on private lands in E. Texas. Many of the photos found at www.freephotogallery.org were taken there. It is home to eagles, ospreys, cormorants, herons, egrets, pelicans, and many other birds. Cougers, bobcats, red wolf/coyote hybrids, coyotes, river otters, beavers, alligators and other animals are present. The only surviving long-leaf pines West of the Trinity River are found here as well as centuries old oaks, magnolias and other species.

In addition huge boulders, rare in E. Texas provide habitat for rare ferns and other plants. Catahoula wastelands are home to numerous cacti and other rare plants. One of the finest native prairies in E. Texas features numerous prairie flowers and grasses. With over 2,500 acres and 12 linear miles of riparian habitat THE HOLY TRINITY WILDERNESS CATHEDRAL and associated lands if truely amazing. Visit www.eastersunrise.org for a map to the main cathedral peninsula.
