A Special Place
Show and tell about places in nature that were, or are, important to you. Big majestic places, or everyday places.

Old fire tower, Tennessee

Who: Bill

Where: Old fire tower above Mooresburg & Treadway TN

Why: From the tower on the spine of a long ridge: the Smokies on the horizon to the southeast, Sneedville and the Cumberland Plateau to the northwest, ridges like long green ocean waves crossing the landscape in unstoppable rows, frozen in place. In the valleys: small farms, an abandoned zinc mine, a white sandstone quarry. A buzzard riding the thermals. August sun on the pines atop each knob. A landscape that reminds me who I am.
